- Certified User: Programmer,
- Certified User: VR Developer,
- Certified Associate: Game Developer,
- Certified Associate: Game Programmer,
- Certified Professional Programmer
- Certified Expert Programmer.
I've done some research about these certifications, and found a few interesting tidbits.
1. A certification expires in 3 years.
- This means that I'd have to constantly retake these certifications after every 3 years, and although there is a lot of overlap, that's still a lot of 3-year exams to take. Not to mention the price of each exam has a fee as well.
2. The courses aren't up to date
- Looking around the internet and reading other people's experiences with these certifications, it seems like the courseware provided with a package deal for user programmers is not up to date and doesn't have as much relevant information for the exam. Actually, it's quite difficult to find an up-to-date course on the user programming side to cover all the exam qualifications.
3. It does help you stand out in an ideal world
- An ideal world is where everyone is equal, and thus when everyone is equal it be easier to be chosen if you're the only equal with a "sticker" (a certification). Although work industries like work experience over any certification, It's difficult to get work experience in the first place.
So I'm thinking of grabbing a certification, but unable to find good resources to study from. If anyone has any tips about each of these exams or would like to share some experiences with me, my contact email is ShimyTran@gmail.com
